Universities have a key opportunity to embed sustainability into their strategy, operations and leadership. By acting now, institutions can strengthen their global reputation, build resilience and align with the evolving expectations of students and stakeholders.
Climate change will disrupt higher education by 2030
More than 50% of CAB partners anticipate climate change to impact their operations by 2030, yet only one-third have emissions reduction targets.
Sustainability is a leadership issue, but action is lagging
64% highlight a commitment to climate action in their marketing efforts, but only 41% train their teams to communicate sustainability initiatives.
International education’s carbon footprint is significant
Total emissions from international student and staff travel in the Global Wave benchmark group reached 691,191 tCO2-e.
